We are looking to recruit a GIS Technician to work on a range of high profile developments throughout the UK within our Ecology team. The role will be based in our Cambridge office.

As a key member of our team you will play a critical role in further developing RPS GIS services, your specific roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Operating, maintaining and developing the GIS data systems and facilitating survey data collection and management.

• Working with the ecological survey teams to set up and run PDA/tablet equipment on surveys.

• Ability to make accurate and understandable records. Developing quality and efficiency standards and strategies.

• Data handling, lists, summaries and analysis leading to the production of graphical output, including maps and figures, including:
 Phase 1 habitats.
 Protected species surveys.
 Ornithological survey outputs such as breeding bird territories, distribution and vantage point analysis.
 Designated sites mapping and minimum site distances; Record centre data handling and mapping.
 BREEAM calculations and outputs.
 Windfarm, Collision risk modelling.
 Aerial photography and remote sensing analysis.

• Experience in ESRI ArcGIS, ESRI ArcPAD, GPS
Desirable skills but not essential, AutoCAD, Mapinfo, MS Access and SQL.

• Providing GIS technical expertise and deriving solutions to projects i.e. field data capture with mobile systems

• Communication skills to relate and liaise with ecology team on mapping and data requirements and capabilities.

• Identifying technical solutions and software requirements in relation to GIS, spatial analysis, data management etc.

• Expanding business opportunities in relation to GIS and data management etc.

A degree or equivalent in a GIS or related subject would be preferred along with an interest in Ecology.
