Overview

We are seeking enthusiastic Senior Ecologists to join our busy ecology department at our head office in the East Midlands near Derby and our South East office in Dorking, Surrey. With a strong emphasis on Phase 1 habitat and botanical skills, you will have a solid grounding in protected species work. Working within your team, you will manage a variety of projects, small and more complex, from planning initial surveys through to post planning mitigation and site works. You will be knowledgeable in current nature conservation law and policy and can advise clients effectively and liaise with bodies such as Local Planning Authorities, Natural England and other consultees.

Required:

  • Educated to at least degree standard in an ecological/environmental discipline;
  • An experienced project manager;
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience, including within an ecological consultancy role;
  • Excellent Extended Phase 1 habitat survey skills, ideally with NVC and detailed botanical survey experience;
  • Be experienced in protected species survey and mitigation, and have experience of the licensing process;
  • Have excellent report writing skills providing clear and concise information, including design of mitigation and habitat management plans;
  • Confident in working with and advising a wide variety of individuals from ecological and other disciplines to achieve successful outcomes to projects;
  • A full driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experienced in undertaking EcIA and possibly HRA;
  • A Full / Associate CIEEM Member;
  • Hold an EPS survey licence for GCN, bats or dormice.

Our head office is based in the East Midlands at the Grade 2 listed Lockington Hall in a village setting just off the M1, the office is within easy access of a number of nearby towns and cities and transport networks.  We have further offices based in Dorking, Exeter and York.
