In this post, you will provide specialist ecological advice to the Planning Service and other Corporate projects to protect and promote the natural assets of East Suffolk. Working with a number of stakeholders, this will include assisting in developing and implementing an approach to Biodiversity Net Gain, reviewing ecological appraisals and mitigation proposals, undertaking Habitats Regulations Assessments (Screening and Appropriate Assessment) to inform decision making and Local Development Documents. Complementing our other planning specialist services you will seek to ensure ecological compliance in development and to further nature conservation and biodiversity in the District.

With a degree (or equivalent) level qualification in Ecology or a related discipline, you will have a good understanding of both strategic planning and development management elements of the town and country planning system, as well as detailed knowledge of legislation and techniques for the conservation, management and enhancement of habitats and species. Confidence in negotiation, the ability to foster robust working relationships and strong analytical skills are all essential for this position.
