West Yorkshire Ecology Service (WYES) is the ecological records and information service for West Yorkshire and provides advice on nature conservation, biodiversity and other ecological matters. The area has a diverse range of habitats from the South Pennines in the west to the Southern Magnesian Limestone in the east, something to inspire everyone.

West Yorkshire Ecology Service (WYES) are seeking to recruit an Ecological Records Officer to provide maternity cover for up to thirteen months.

The successful applicant will be expected to maintain and enhance the computer and paper-based records of WYES and provide information to enquirers, both professional ecologists and members of the public, working to tight deadlines. They will also help support groups and volunteer recorders and may be asked to carry out or assist in ecological surveys.

Applicants will ideally have experience or equivalent relevant work experience; understanding and knowledge of UK ecology; be IT literate and have good GIS skills (preferably MapInfo). A flexible approach to work and good attention to detail and accuracy are important characteristics. Ideally you will have a degree in ecology or a related field and have experience of working with amateur naturalist groups.
