Overview

To support the Cefas Management Board in developing and implementing Cefas’ strategy by contributing to long term planning.
Leading Corporate Governance and Management Board Activities
Acting as a sounding board to the Chief Executive and other Directors to ensure read across of wider stakeholder and business sector practices.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To contribute to shaping the future of Cefas by implementing processes and business strategy to achieve the required goals.
To help establish key strategic priorities and translate them into comprehensive strategic plans.
To investigate, collate, analyse and promote data and evidence on relevant strategic issues and use with stakeholders to develop and agree necessary plans.

To manage the delivery of documents relating to the strategic plan; setting timetable and processes for review.

To work alongside the Senior Management Team and Cefas Management Board (CMB) to ensure that the Business Plan is consistent with Defra and relevant stakeholder requirements.

To support market research activities on customer needs, competitor pressures and the identification of viable new markets for business development.

To maintain and develop relationships to implement an outreach programme to promote engagement, understanding and visibility of strategies and plans.

To coordinate CMB meetings and events ensuring appropriate external and internal inputs to ensure the Board is focusing on priority issues and adhering to the highest standards of governance.

To maintain relationships across the organisation and externally to inform strategy development and its impact on stakeholders.

You must be prepared to travel within the UK, mainly to Weymouth and London

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
A Business degree and or MBA is desirable
In addition you will have:
Substantial and proven experience of business strategy development within a large organisation or consultancy environment.
Good understanding of organizational dynamics and business process and policies
Experience of advising senior managers on strategic issues
The ability to anticipate the challenges and opportunities which arise from professional, legal, technological and marketplace changes and translate these into coherent strategy
A good understanding of the marine sector and sensitivity to Cefas’ status as a Civil Service body
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
