About this Job:

Atmos Consulting is looking for a full time, experienced Ecological Consultant or Senior Ecologist to join our Ecology team in Inverness.  The candidate should have at least 1-5 years consultancy experience. You will need to be an established and experienced ecologist who is seeking to develop your career further as a consultant; ideally someone able to demonstrate a strong track record in winning new and repeat ecological commissions. We want to hear about your passion for ecological consultancy and ability to nurture client relationships and deliver profitable commissions.

The Position:

On a day-to-day basis the requirements of the post would involve:

Business generation and promotion of Atmos Consulting to new clients;
Building/maintaining relationships with clients;
Playing a key role in the delivery of the ecological services that Atmos provides;
Planning and managing ecological surveys using various survey methods;
Scoping and Project Management of a range of projects from small to large scale;
Resource planning and financial reporting;
Technical reporting and tendering;
Review of reports;
Negotiating with statutory agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders;
Mentoring of junior members of the Atmos Ecology Team;
Maintaining your own and others’ Continuing Professional Development; and
Operating at all times in accordance with the CIEEM Professional Code of Conduct.

The Person:

We would like to hear from you if you are an experienced ecologist who enjoys establishing relationships with clients and generating new business with a high level of technical competence across a broad range of sectors.

We are seeking someone who is dependable and reliable with a sound ecological background and proven project experience. The role would incorporate working in a supporting role to senior colleagues, as well as advising and mentoring more junior members of the team.

Experience as an ECoW and in undertaking habitat surveys (extended Phase 1 and NVC) is a highly desirable. A bat licence would also be advantageous.

In addition to being a competent ecologist, maintaining and developing client relationships will be central to the role. We would ideally be seeking someone who has a particular passion for engaging with potential clients and a flair for business generation.

You will have excellent communication skills and have experience of authoring a wide range of technical reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments. You should be fully conversant with the framework of legislation and guidance within the UK, and experience of the protected species licensing process would be advantageous. You should be degree educated and ideally be a full member of CIEEM.

Accurate record-keeping and good project and budgetary management skills are a fundamental requirement of the post, as are good interpersonal skills and the ability to advise clients on technical issues both strategically and in detail when required.
