Ecology by Design is currently looking to appoint a commercially aware, associate director to join our team in an important leadership role.

Ecology by Design was setup in January 2015 and we have had consistent growth ever since. We strive to employ the best and brightest and reward hard work and dedication. We provide ecology consultancy services to a wide range of clients. We pride ourselves in technical excellence and providing an innovative, pragmatic, client-friendly service.

We work across the UK with the majority of our projects across the Home Counties, South and Midlands.

The associate director will work closely with the director to grow the business and manage the outputs of the company on a day-to-day basis. The right person will be excited by joining a rapidly growing business and have clear ambition to grow with the business helping shape it as a modern, innovative environmental consultancy.  The scope of this role is flexible and will give the right candidate an opportunity to shape their place in the business.

Skills and Experience

  • Genuine and demonstrable enthusiasm for ecology and the environment;
  • Advanced skills in one or more specialist ecological area e.g. bats;
  • Secured European Protected Species Mitigation (EPSM) licences for protected species e.g. great crested newt or bats.
  • Management experience, ideally in a consultancy setting;
  • Sales and tendering experience;
  • Networking skills and network of contacts both in and outside the industry;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills;
  • Willing to project manage large or high-profile projects;
  • Background of high-level technical ecology work including licence and mitigation work;
  • Full or chartered member of CIEEM (or eligible if not currently held); and
  • Full driving licence and use of a car;

The candidate must live within commuting distance to Chalgrove, Oxfordshire or be willing to relocate, although flexible working will enable the candidate to work some time from home.
