We have a fantastic opportunity for an early career ecologist or environmental scientist to gain experience and help to ensure ecological matters are appropriately addressed in the planning system. We want to hear from you if you have a passion for protecting the natural environment of Norfolk and want to develop your skills in this sector.
The Green Infrastructure Team has an important role providing ecological advice to planning officers with the County Council and some district authorities. We are looking for a person with excellent written and communication skills, who is well organised, flexible, and has the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
You will assist the Senior Green Infrastructure Officer in coordinating and responding to formal consultation requests from planning officers within agreed timeframes, providing succinct and focused professional advice in respect to planning applications, planning obligations and pre-application schemes where they may be an impact on biodiversity.
You will be required to assess ecological reports, ensuring compliance with national and local policies and legislation, and ensuring field surveys have been undertaken in line with best practice. You will provide formal written reports to planning officers with recommendations justified on sound ecology and legislation.
You will have at least a Degree, or equivalent qualification, in ecology or related subject and some experience working as an ecological surveyor or consultant.
