Responsibilities

The majority of work is likely to be regional, but there will be technical collaboration and networking with the ecologists working within the company around the UK. We support our staff in developing their careers through formal training and through working alongside national experts.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Providing support to the Scotland Team and beyond;
• Working with ecologists and other professionals (environmental scientists, engineers, planners) throughout Atkins and across the UK to provide a consistent and integrated service to clients;
• Assisting on field surveys and planning and co-ordinating ecological survey and mitigation work; and,
• Undertaking nature conservation/ecology assessments and writing reports.

Requirements

• CIEEM membership (or eligible if not currently held)
• A good degree in ecology or similar subject and ideally an MSc
• Experience working within ecological consultancy;
• Understanding of relevant UK & EU legislation, planning policies and licensing regulations
• Up to date knowledge of survey guidance and assessment for UK protected species
• Experience of Phase 1 habitat survey and protected species survey
• Good project management skills
• Full UK driver’s licence
• Experience of report writing, ideally including EcIA chapters
