Our Ecology business comprises a highly skilled team focused on providing services to a wide range of clients, particularly developers, utility companies and the renewable energy and rural industries, and as a result of our success in this area, we have a senior level vacancy.  The successful candidate will join a team of Ecology professionals who work closely with colleagues in other disciplines, such as Planning, Landscape and Archaeology.

The role

To manage and deliver ecological consultancy and mitigation works in a fast moving, client focussed commercial environment.  To meet the Ecology Team targets including taking part in and supporting sales initiatives in key sectors.

This will involve

Managing and undertaking a wide range of ecological surveys including extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and EcoCheck surveys and more specialist work such as protected species surveys and mitigation.
Carrying out desk studies, consultations, research, data management and analysis, and report writing.
Carrying out and supporting sales activities, including drafting proposals and quotes and assisting with submission of tenders.  Identifying target clients and approaching for business development meetings and undertaking sales meetings.
Writing ecological sections of Environmental Impact Assessments.
Liaising and attending meetings with clients and statutory bodies.
Developing an understanding of the principles and procedures of project management.
Successful candidates will

Undertake a wide range of ecological surveys including extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and EcoCheck surveys including more specialist work such as protected species surveys (for which at least one European Protected Species licence must be held) and mitigation and acting as ecological clerk of works.  This will involve ensuring that work is completed to the required CIEEM and other applicable standards, is delivered on time, meets the project profit target, and is delivered to the client’s satisfaction.
Write and produce concise ecological reports that are compliant with relevant legislation and meet the needs of the client, both in terms of satisfaction and client deadlines.
Write ecological sections of Environmental Impact Assessments ensuring that legislative guidelines are met.
Manage small and medium sized ecology projects ensuring that work is delivered on time, within budget and meets the client’s satisfaction.
Achieve team and personal sales targets through building good client relationships, undertaking sales activities such as writing proposals, assisting with larger tenders, approaching new clients and undertaking sales meetings.
Other requirements

A full driving licence will be required as will the need for flexible working with regard to type of work, timing and location with weekend working required at times.
At least one relevant European Protected Species survey licence (or working towards this).
Full membership of CIEEM (or working towards this).
